Baltimore School Teacher Charged With Sexual Assault, Producing Child Pornography

A local science teacher, William Zev Steen, is facing charges of rape, assault, child abuse, sexual abuse of a minor, and perverted practice. According to formal documents, those who were allegedly abused by the 44-year-old male were girls ranging from ages 5 to 7 years old. Local reports state that Steen, who was a teacher at Bnos Yisroel school in Northwest Baltimore, also worked for TAG Baltimore, a company that provides internet filtering services for the Orthodox Jewish community.

On Oct. 26, 2022, law enforcement acted on a warrant to search Steen’s home, which lead them to find an external memory card stashed in Steen’s backpack. Although everything had been deleted from the card, digital forensic examiners were able to recover multiple individual, explicit images of children that were once part of a video file. The charges filed against Steen further indicate that he is accused of sharing child pornography on the internet.

Steen is currently being held in custody, with a preliminary court hearing scheduled for Dec. If convicted, these charges carry severe criminal penalties and open the door to future civil proceedings.
