On My Way App Awards Drivers for Safe DrivingNovember 25, 2019
Car accidents are the leading cause of death for people between the ages of 16 and 25. Many of those accidents are caused by drivers who were distracted by their phones or other electronic devices. Despite the common knowledge that talking and texting while driving can result in severe car accidents, young drivers continue to engage in this dangerous behavior. A California-based company hopes to motivate young drivers to refrain from texting and driving with their free app called OnMyWay. After downloading the app, customers can earn cash for every mile they drive without texting.
According to the co-founder of OnMyWay, by using cash incentives to reward drivers, this can help put an end to this devastating epidemic. Once users have downloaded the app, they will immediately receive $10 in cash, simply by becoming a customer. They will then get paid five cents for every mile that they drive and do not text. The money they earn can be deposited directly into the user’s bank account, or exchanged for things like gas, meals, or other OnMyWay cash deals. The app also allows customers to make money by referring friends. When a friend signs up for the app, the customer can earn two cents for every mile that the person they referred does not text while driving.
How the App Works
Once the app has been downloaded, if someone sends a text message to the user, that person will receive an automatic reply saying that you are driving. OnMyWay automatically activates when the vehicle exceeds 10 mph. The user can retrieve the messages when they arrive at their destination. The phone will not be disabled if it is connected to the in-car Bluetooth. Users can also continue to use their navigation apps and music stations if they are activated before the user starts driving. The app will not drain the phone’s battery because it uses built-in functionality.
Earn Money and Save Lives
OnMyWay has made it their mission to prevent distracted driving accidents that are caused by texting. They shared the following statistics based on the number of customers in each state:
- The OnMyWay app can prevent a car accident each day with 223 users in each state.
- With 36,000 customers using the app in each state, the app can save a life every day.
- While customers may not text and drive, others do, which can cause you or someone you love to be injured in a car accident.
