Essex Truck Crash with MTA Bus Injures Eight VictimsOctober 15, 2019
A truck crash with an MTA bus injured eight individuals on Monday afternoon. The accident occurred around 3 pm in Essex, Maryland when a pickup truck slammed into the side of the bus on Eastern Boulevard and Taylor Avenue. Both drivers received hospitalization and the other victims went to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. One victim sustained life-threatening injuries in the truck crash.
Large vehicles such as trucks and buses that engage in collisions may cause more injuries for victims than the average car accident. Since transit buses may carry more passengers than smaller vehicles, the potential for mass injuries increases. Generally, buses do not contain as many as safeguards as a car may have like air bags or adequate seat belts and could easily roll over due to the top-heavy nature of the vehicle.
