Over a Dozen Injuries Stem from School Bus Crash in AnnapolisAugust 6, 2018
A school bus crash in Annapolis, Maryland resulted in over a dozen injuries on Sunday morning. Around 10 am, the bus accident occurred on Interstate 295 when a bus drifted past the center line and overturned several times. Fourteen adult passengers who were part of a musical group that was headed to Washington, D.C. from New York sustained a range of injuries, some of which were serious. Allegedly, the bus driver fell asleep, which may have instigated the school bus crash.
One of many factors contributing to serious accidents includes drowsy driving, which may affect a variety of drivers, especially professional drivers. Professional drivers like truckers and other transportation employees may work long hours on the road without proper rest, which may lead to a crash if they experience driver fatigue. Some drivers may not receive adequate training to safely maneuver passengers to their destinations or do not have enough experience to operate a large, unwieldy vehicle like a bus, which may result in accidents with other vehicles.
