Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash Injures Eight in LinthicumDecember 28, 2017
A fiery two-vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday morning, which caused personal injuries for eight victims. Around 12:20 am, the motor vehicle accident took place on Interstate 295 in Linthicum, Maryland when a vehicle crashed into a minivan that was disabled on the side of the road. The minivan contained seven individuals, ranging in age from adult to infant, who sustained a variety of injuries, including serious injuries. Upon impact, one of the vehicles caught on fire, but the car occupants escaped. Three victims, including an infant boy, were taken to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital while three other individuals received treatment at the Children’s Center at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. During the two-vehicle crash, a teenage boy became lost and was discovered in the lobby of a nearby hotel with critical injuries.
When a vehicle is disabled on the side of the road, motorists traveling along the same highway may become distracted or engage in reckless driving, and may hit the disabled vehicle. If individuals are occupying the idle vehicle, they may be at-risk for developing serious injuries or even potential fatalities if the other vehicle sideswipes them. Speeding drivers may also be in danger of colliding with the disabled vehicle.
