Reckless Driver Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash that Injured Six Victims
A multi-vehicle crash caused personal injuries for six victims on Thursday evening. The accident, which involved five vehicles, occurred around 6 pm in Towson, Maryland, and sent five people to the hospital. Before the crash, a driver from Westminster, Maryland was driving recklessly by weaving in and out of the lanes and using excessive speed on Interstate 695. In addition to the reckless driver, who sustained critical injuries, five other victims needed medical treatment for a variety of injuries. Police officers found alcohol on the driver as well as several empty alcoholic containers in his car after the multi-vehicle crash.
Intoxicated driving is a contributing factor to serious motor vehicle accidents. Drivers under the influence may lose control of their cars or engage in dangerous driving, which puts other motorists and their passengers at-risk for incurring injuries and even fatalities. In 2015, over 500 fatalities occurred due to drunk driving in the state of Maryland.
