Elderly Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Takoma Park
On Wednesday night, an elderly man was fatally struck by a car in Takoma Park, Maryland. A car, driven by a 72-year-old man, hit the 79-year-old pedestrian on New Hampshire Avenue at Larch Avenue around 7:49 pm. After the pedestrian accident occurred, the victim was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his fatal injuries.
The most common time for pedestrian accidents to occur is at night when visibility is diminished, and many of these incidents take place in urban areas. Although pedestrians are protected by state traffic laws, motorists may fail to use caution when in their path or engage in reckless driving, which could cause personal injuries or even fatalities for victims. Survivors may develop debilitating injuries, which may leave them unable to earn a proper income.
