A bicyclist was fatally injured in a midnight crash in Baltimore early Tuesday morning. The fatal accident occurred when a car, driven by a man from Severn, Maryland rear-ended a bicyclist who was riding his bike on a hiking-and-biking trail that surrounds the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. Emergency personnel determined that the bicyclist from Hanover, Maryland succumbed to his fatal injuries at the scene of the accident. The midnight crash remains under investigation.
Even if a bicyclist uses caution when riding a bicycle, the lack of safety features on a bike leave a bicyclist vulnerable to incurring personal injuries or even fatalities. Bicyclists and other motorists follow the same traffic laws although many drivers do not realize the same rules apply to bicyclists as it does to them. Many times, drivers fail to be cautious around bicyclists, which could lead to accidents.
