Serious Car Accident at Base of Thomas Johnson BridgeMarch 30, 2017
Around noon, a serious car accident took place at the base of the Thomas Johnson Bridge in California, St. Mary’s County, Maryland. After a car struck a dump truck while traveling southbound on Route 4, both vehicles veered off the road, and the dump truck rolled over into a ditch with the car underneath it. The dump truck was discovered engulfed in flames. One fatality has been confirmed in the car accident, and an investigation is being conducted.
Since trucks require more maintenance and need experienced and trained drivers to operate them, the incidence of accidents is much higher for trucks than standard cars. Truck drivers may engage in reckless driving, speeding, or suffer from lack of sleep, which may lead to personal injuries for victims or even fatalities.
