Baltimore Car Accident Attorneys: Getting Good Car Information When You Need It with SaferCar

As the agency tasked with providing up-to-date safety information to consumers, the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) introduced a mobile app to provide timely information when and where you need it.

Available from the iTunes store, SaferCar is a free app available for iPhones and the iPod Touch. A version for Android devices is expected in the future. Concurrent with the release of the SaferCar app in March of this year, NHTSA released an Application Programming Interface (API) to allow developers to build accessibility to NHTSA into web and mobile devices.

Types of information you can expect to find and utilize with the SaferCar app include:

  • Information about your car. Register cars you currently own and receive timely information on safety concerns, recalls and other information you need. The app allows you to easily register a complaint about your car to help others with a similar model.
  • Information on other cars. The app provides access to safety ratings of automobiles you may consider for purchase, lease or rental.
  • Headlines. Using the app alerts you to NHTSA headlines about safety issues and recalls.
  • Help with child seats. Despite their best efforts, many parents are not sure if their car seat is installed correctly. The app provides up-to-date information as well as locations of the nearest place for you to receive help installing your seat.

There are a lot of apps available for a lot of reasons. The SaferCar app provides good information at the right price. But even good information can’t always prevent an accident, and if you or a loved one falls victim to a car crash, always seek good legal counsel in Maryland.
